Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday said a case has been registered six persons, including a woman, for allegedly pelted stones on employees of Power Development Department (PDD) who were distributing electric power in a locality in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The police spokesman said, “Yesterday on 28-05-2018, an officer of PDD namely AEE Farooq Ahmad along with his staff went for distribution of load balance in Eidgah Mohallah of Chijama area of Sopore.”
“While performing their professional duty, seven to eight people including with some ladies pelted stones on the working staff and also looted 200 metres of ACSR wire from the spot,” said a spokesman.
In order to prevent any untoward incident police party of Police Party Watergam reached on spot and meanwhile unruly mob hurled stones on them as well, he said.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 62/2018 under section 147, 148, 149, 336, 307, 379 and 353 RPC stands registered against six people including lady Parveen at Police Station Dangiwacha and investigation has been taken up, said police spokesman.
