The local artists of Kashmir have a unique tribute to the famous TV series Game of Thrones (GoT, a report by India Today said.
The report said that a bunch of young Kashmiri artists has produced a short video titled ‘The Cure: A Kashmiri Instrumental Tribute to Game of Thrones’.
The film has been entirely shot at Gulmarg and features instrumental music.
The video was recently uploaded by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism’s Facebook page and YouTube handle. Soon after its release, the short video has taken the social media by storm with thousands of views already, the report mentioned.
“This tribute to #GameOfThrones comes all the way from Kashmir. Its a visual delight and hearing the theme music played on the traditional rubab is amazing. Well done,” tweeted former Chief Minister and NC leader Omar Abdullah.
The report further said that the makers of the video, the project were completed in three months with basic production equipment. The director of the film is a young man named Ruman Hamdani.
“If you’re a filmmaker, Kashmir has everything to offer you. We shot this completely on a shoe-string budget and with very basic cameras and production equipment,” Ruman Hamdani is quoted as saying by local media sources, reported India Today.
The team also said that they tried to shoot the video in exactly the same way Game of Thrones has been originally shot in order to make the filmmakers realize the Valleys potential for filmmaking. The theme of the video was chosen keeping in mind the popularity of the original show.
One of the biggest attractions of the video is its background music. Most of it has been played on traditional instrument Rabab. Sufyan Malik, another young man composed the music for the film. Sufyan can also be seen playing the rabab in the video.
The project was sponsored by the tourism department and they say the aim was to showcase local talent.
“This shows how talented the youngsters in Jammu and Kashmir are. We wanted to send the message that the Valley is beautiful and such shoots are possible here,” said Director Tourism Kashmir, Mehmood Ahmed Shah, reported India Today.
The video has already fetched 15,909 views on YouTube from yesterday.
