IUST organises 2-day workshop on Outcome Based Education

A two-day workshop on “Outcome-based Education” was inaugurated at Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Awantipora on Monday 26th March 2018.

The spokesman said that inaugural function of the workshop was presided over by Prof. Mushtaq A. Siddiqi, Vice Chancellor, IUST. The workshop is being held from 26th to 27th March 2018 under TEQIPP-III project being implemented by IUST. The purpose of the workshop is to sensitize faculty of various departments of the university about the benefits of aligning to the process of Outcome-Based Education so that the programs offered by the university under School of Technology are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

The spokesman said that speaking at the occasion Prof. Siddiqi emphasized for the attainment of high academic and research standards in the university. He reiterated various initiatives especially recruitment of faculty, upgradation of infrastructure being taken up by the university. Prof. A. H. Moon, Dean School of Technology, IUST gave an overview of the objectives of the workshop and emphasized the importance of accreditation in light of achieving global recognition of various Engineering programmes offered by IUST. The programme is being conducted by Dr Yogesh P. Velankar, NBA Expert an eminent Engineering educationist consultant and adjunct faculty at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Banaras.

The inaugural function was attended by various university officials including Prof. A. Q. Qureshi, Dean Academic Affairs, Riyaz Rufai, Registrar IUST, Sameer Wazir, Finance Officer, Heads of various departments and over 160 faculty members of the School of Technology, IUST.

The 2-day workshop is having various technical sessions which are designed to be highly interactive and would offer hands-on sessions to the participants in redrafting their vision and mission statements of their respective departments. At the end of the workshop each department under School of Technology would work towards finalizing the program on Educational Objectives, program Outcomes, Course Outcomes in line with NBA Accreditation guidelines, the spokesman said in a statement.

The Proceedings of the inaugural session were anchored by Coordinator NBA Dr Khalid Muzaffar.
