Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) Jammu and Kashmir Sunday distanced itself from the statement of a leader from Jama’at-e-Islami Hind saying the leader is on “his private visit to valley and not invited by the religo-politico organization”.

Pertinently, a Jama’at-e-Islami Hind leader, Ejaz Aslam, on Saturday in a discussion with youth in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district had told the gathering that they “should shun their struggle for freedom”.

“It will be in the interest of not only Kashmiris but India and Pakistan too if they reconcile with India,” he had told a group of youth after giving Friday sermon. Ejaz Aslam also edits Radiance weekly magazine.

Delivering concluding lecture at distrci Baramulla’s annual Ijtima in Sopore on Sunday, Dr Hameed Fayaz, JeI Secretary General said, “Ejaz Aslam is on a private tour to Kashmir; JeI Kashmir has nothing to do with his statement.”

“Our struggle is based on truth and facts,” he said adding, “Kashmiris have been rendering sacrifices for last six decades and particularly for last two and a half decades.”

Ejaz Aslam had also taken on JeI Kashmir saying, “I totally disagree with their stand as I have already said that Kashmiris are not going to achieve anything by adopting the path of resistance.”

Responding to assertions made by Ejaz Aslam, Dr Hameed Fayaz said, “you can give sermons of ‘give-up’ to Muslims in India but not Kashmiris; this is a sacred movement and we cannot let anyone to sell this movement for petty interests.” “Our youth have shed their blood for right to self-determination.”

Dr Fayaz reiterated the stand of JeI Kashmir on the Kashmir issue saying, “JeI believes that the UN resolutions on Kashmir are solution to the Kashmir imbroglio.” “Tripartite dialogue wherein aspirations of Kashmiris are respected is also an option.”
