Senior Hurriyat (M) leader and chairman of his JKLF faction Javaid Ahmad Mir Friday received major injuries on his left hand thumb, after police tried to arrest him at Press colony Srinagar for protesting against the continuous detention of Kashmiri political prisoners.
“Despite high bleeding he was arrested and lodged in Police station Kothibagh,” Mir’s close aide said. “Later he was transferred to Police control room Hospital by a police team where doctors referred him to Srinagar’s Bone and Joint Hospital wherein he went an emergency operation. As such three pins were installed to his left hand thumb during the 2 hour long surgery.”
