Paying tributes to former president Dr Abdul Kalam, Tarun Vijay, BJP MP from Jammu said that tributes to Dr Abdul Kalam would remain “incomplete without having army personnel settled in Jammu Kashmir and encouraged to contribute for the state’s development”.
“That was Dr Kalam’s dream, to see J&K is fully developed and prosperity ushers in to make every citizen prosperous and happier,” he said. “Unemployment must go from J&K, development must come in, he said. Army men are the most powerful instrument to achieve this goal,” he opined in a statement issued Tuesday evening.
“In this regard,” the statement informed, “Tarun Vijay, BJP MP met Dr Jitendra Singh, who represents the state and presented him (Dr Jitendra) a memorandum to push for having army men settled in Kashmir valley to create an atmosphere of safety and development.”
“Army personnel setting in Jammu Kashmir be given all help to establish industry and trade centres so that youngsters from valley get better employment and a process of wealth creation is accelerated in the state,” he said.
MP Tarun asked Dr Jitendra Singh that since he belongs to the state, “he must push this matter vigorously with the state government”.
“He also requested that the state and centre should give 25 year tax holiday to such army men who initiate an industry or any enterprise creating wealth for the state and providing employment to the state’s youth,” the statement informed.
“Dr Jitendra Singh appreciated Tarun Vijay’s spirit to help J&K, saying that it is a noble proposal and assured that he will have the matter examined and will speak to state government.”
