Castigating Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik for asking Hizb Chief Syed Salahuddin to investigate the Sopore incidents, PDP Thursday said that ‘self-styled’ leader has no right to issue ‘self-styled’ statements seeking ‘self-styled’ probe from any militant leader.
PDP youth wing president Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra told CNS that Malik has made such a statement to get attention from the media. “Militants have no locus standi on the issue. How can a ‘self-styled’ leader ask for a ‘self-styled’ probe, when Jammu and Kashmir Police is already probing the matter. The initial investigation done by police has made it visible that militants are responsible for the attacks and killings in Sopore town,” Parra said and adding that media should refrain from propagating such ‘self-styled’ statements.
Pertinently, Malik during a press conference on Wednesday had said that there are two guns — “State gun and gun that militants carry”. “Since both have condemned the civilian killings in Sopore, I would not suggest the government but urge the UJC chief Syed Salahudin to probe the killings at his own level.”
“These separatist leaders have become irrelevant and that’s why they adopt ‘pick and choose’ policy and issue statements that suit them,” he said.
Responding to a question, Parra said that PDP has no ‘soft corner’ towards separatist leaders. “Chief Minister is on record to say that anti-national activities on Kashmir soil are unacceptable,” he said.
“Government has acted tough against some leaders who are trying to disrupt the peace here. There is no question of going soft towards separatist leaders who indulge in anti-national activities,” he added.
