JK Government Wednesday said it is committed to bring back migrant pandits in their native areas and even the Government of India has said that it has no plan for the  exclusive townships for the community.

While reacting to the statement of the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh wherein he stated that Chief Minister has said that he will identify the land for rehabilitation of migrant pandits and the proposal will begin soon, Mufti Syed’s close confidant and education minister Naeem Akhtar said that the JK government is committed to restore the plural character of Kashmir’s society and the idea of settling migrant pandits is not being pursued at all.

Akhtar remarked that even the GoI has made it clear in the past that it has no plan to settle migrant pandits in exclusive townships or isolated pockets.

Pertinently, union home minister Rajnath Singh said that the GoI is aware of the problems being faced by the people of the state, be it that of Kashmiri Pandit community, or that of the refugees from West Pakistan or Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, or that of the migrants from border areas and that Centre was considering these problems and was working to resolve them soon.
