Terming the emerging situation in Sopore as a new threat, General Officer Commanding 15 Chinar Corps, Lieutenant General Subrata Saha Wednesday said that the incidents related to telecom sector in Sopore has a new dimension and they are analyzing it.

Talking to reporters after the wreath laying ceremony in honor of three army men killed in Tangdar sector, Lieutenant General Subrata Saha said that nobody has heard about this group that is in killings in Sopore and threatening people associated with telecom business.

“This group has got criticism from all quarters so this is a new threat that is being analyzed and I am sure we will expose this unheard group,” he said adding that it is a new threat and they are dealing with it.

Responding to a question, Saha said that overall the situation in Valley is stable. “Not all across North Kashmir, threatening posters have appeared. Such posters have appeared in a limited belt in Sopore. The tourist season is picking up and miscreants will try hard to disrupt the peace, however, Army and other security agencies are fully equipped to deal with any kind of situation,” he said.

GoC Lt Gen Subrata Saha, according to CNS, said, “the sacrifice of the three soldiers in Tangdar only strengthens our resolve further to defeat all inimical elements which are threat to the security of our nation and Kashmir.”

“Our intention is to be sure that threat of infiltration is eliminated so these militants are not allowed to come in and threaten the people here. The type of weapon that we recovered from the deceased militant in Tangdar makes it clear that militants want to reignite their activities.”

Terming the killing of LeT militant Attaullah Bhat in South Kashmir as the major success, Saha said that the militant killed in Yaripora Kulgam was involved in the killing of a Sarpanch and police and CRPF personnel in 2013. “This militant was also involved in several incidents of rifle snatching,” he said.
