Modi’s Junior Minister Hopes — ‘Let Geelani Have Alam’s Fate in Fresh Flag Row’

KL Report

SRINAGAR

While reacting to reports of Pakistan flag waiving during Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani’s Friday Tral rally, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh on Saturday said the government would ‘handle the situation’ as per the law of the land.

“It is condemnable,” Singh said while reacting to flag reports. “…I would hasten to add that the government in the state is capable of handling any situation like this and we expect that they would rise to the occasion.”

The minister said the state government had taken action against separatist leader Masarat Alam for a similar “provocative action earlier”.

“I hope that they would act in a similar manner this time as well,” he said.

Notably, Masrat Alam was booked for waiving Pakistani flag and pitching pro-Pakistani slogans during a welcome rally to Syed Ali Geelani in Srinagar. FIR was registered against Alam, Geelani and other Hurriyat (G) in the similar case.
