Div Com reviews Yatra arrangements at Pahalgam

To review the arrangements for ensuing Amarnath Yatra, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today visited Base Camp Nunwan and Chandanwari stations.

The Divisional Commissioner took detailed account of the arrangements put in place at Base Camp Nunwan, including the medical facilities, ration, accommodation, sanitation, power drinking water, communication to cater the rush of pilgrims

The (Deputy Commissioner), Yatra Officer informed that 450 tents have to be established at Base Camp Nunwan, out of which 271 have been pitched so far. He said the administration is working in close coordination with various agencies to ensure smooth conduct of yatra. He said all arrangements will be completed before the formal commencement of yatra.

The CMO, Islamabad while briefing about the arrangements made by the Health Department informed that 10-bedded hospital at Base Camp, Nunwan and 20-bedded hospital at Chandanwari have been established besides, ensured availability of adequate stock of life saving drugs and oxygen cylinders. In addition, the facilities at PHC Pahalagam have also been augmented to meet the rush of patients.

It was also given to understand that as many as nine langers have been established at Nunwan and 8 at Chandanwari to facilitate the yatris. The managements of the Langers have been urged to ensure proper sanitation and quality foods for the yatries at the langer sites.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner has directed the Camp Officer and SDM to plug the gaps and ensure proper fire gaps while pitching the tents along with the provision of dustbins and fire extinguishers. He directed all the officers to maintain close coordination with each agency, personally monitoring the arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of Yatra. He directed the agencies to pay focused attention on sanitation part in both the Base Camps, proper cleanliness of toilets, latrines and drainages etc.

He also directed the Fire and Emergency Services Department, SDRF and NDMA to conduct more mock drills so that the relief and rescue operation teams are fully acquainted and equipped with proper knowledge and other paraphernalia to meet any exigency.
