19-yr-old NHPC worker drowns in Uri power canal, feared dead

A 19-yr-old boy working at NHPC A, Uri has drowned into head race canal at Uri power house-II this afternoon. He is reportedly feared dead.

The boy has identified as Aadil Aavan son of Aurangzeb resident of Mughal Mohalla Salamabad Uri. His body is yet to be traced.

The workers of the power project have blamed the negligence of the authorities for the mishap.

The incident took place as when the department stopped the JCB to pull out the debris and allowed the workers do the job by managing the work with the ropes.

One of the workers told Kashmir Life that the authorities at the power project directed the workers to stop the JCB and pull out the debris by managing with a rope.

He said: “We somehow managed to pull the debris out but unfortunately the rope snapped down and Aadil fell into the canal.”

When contacted, SHO Uri, Tabrez Ahmad Khan said, that army has been pressed in to fish out the body of Aadil.
