Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti Friday joined thousands of devotees from across the State to offer congregational Jumat-ul-Vida prayers at the historic Hazratbal shrine here, which houses the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). She offered the prayers in the special women’s section of the Dargah.
Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar, Vice-Chairman Wakaf Board, Peer Mohammad Hussain and Legislator, Anjum Fazili also joined the congregational prayers at the Hazratbal shrine, an official spokesperson said this evening.
The Chief Minister interacted with the devotees and extended Jumat-ul-Vida greetings to them.
She urged the people present there to pray for peace of the State and prosperity of its people.
Meanwhile, Ms Mehbooba Mufti has felicitated people on the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Qadr, also known as Laylat-ul-Qadr, the holy night when people congregate to pray to Almighty Allah seeking His forgiveness.
Highlighting the importance of Shab-e-Qadr, the Chief Minister, in his message, stated that the holy night in which Almighty Allah revealed the Glorious Qu’ran to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) for the guidance of mankind, gives us an opportunity to seek His mercy and blessings.
Mufti Sayeed prayed for betterment of the people and hoped that the holy night would bring Allah’s generosity to all. He also prayed that the auspicious occasion would strengthen the bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood and be a harbinger of peace and prosperity in the state.
The Chief Minister directed the divisional administrations to ensure that all facilities are provided to the people especially on account of transportation, water supply and electricity during the night of prayers. He also asked the management of J&K Wakaf Board to provide required facilities at Asar-e-Sharief Hazratbal, and other Khanqahs and Masjids, which are thronged by devotees in large numbers for the night-long prayers at these shrines.
