Responding to the call of united resistance leadership, people offered Asr and Magrib prayers on roads in their respected areas.
The resistance leaders had asked people to offer prayers collectively in open as a mark of protest to “highlight the Kashmir issue.”
The prayers were held at various places in Srinagar with Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani holding prayers in open at Hyderpora. Similar reports were received from Batamaloo, Nowgam, and Rawalpora, where people, men and women, were sitting on roads as a mark of protest.
Correspondent reports from Islamabad said people offered prayers in open at Old Town in the district. A mashaal march was taken out in saffron town of Pampore on Saturday late evening.
Reports are coming from across Kashmir that Masjid loudspeakers are abuzz with “Azadi songs”.
Kashmir is witnessing a renewed uprising following killing of popular militant commander Burhan Wani on July 08, 2016 evening in Kokernag area of south Kashmir.
At least 52 civilians have been killed by state forces in last 22 days while thousands have been injured.
