Expressing serious concern over the arrest spree waged by the state police, Kashmir Economic Alliance Chairperson, Muhammad Yasin Khan cautioned Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to end unleashing a “reign of terror” in the Valley, which is already bleeding.

“While Kashmir is mourning the worst-ever humanitarian crises, the government has furthered the terror through arrest spree being undertaken by police,” Khan, who also heads the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation, said in a statement issued Sunday evening.

He said, “the police station stations have turned into torture cells adding that the youth are being tortured on the instructions of the PDP-led government.”

“Being also the Home Minister, it’s Mehbooba Mufti who is behind this all. Legally and logically speaking police is acting but on her instructions though tomorrow she may feign ignorance of this atrocity too,” Khan said.

He said even as over 200 youth have been arrested police continues to raid residential areas, mostly at midnight.

“This means the state government is hell bent to subject people to terror day and night. During day its curfew, firing, pellet guns and pepper gas whereas police raids give sleepless nights,” Khan said adding, “government is killing people from all sides.”

“Do our children have no right to mourn the killings? To protest the atrocities? Kashmir is facing worst ever rights abuse and international community must take note of this,” he said.

Khan cautioned the government that through use of more brute force things will only worsen. “Let me remind the PDP-BJP government that Kashmir is a resilient nation. The more you crush us, the more we rise,” Khan said.

He said instead of taking measures to resolve the political dispute, New Delhi was pampering PDP led government by giving them “unbridled powers” to crush people of Kashmir.

Khan also condemned the continued arrest and subsequent shifting of JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik to Central jail.
