With consecutive 20th day in progress, Kashmiris continue to take out rallies and protest marches in valley.
Mass uprising was triggered when 22 year old popular Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani was killed in Kokernag area of South Kashmir on July 08, 2016 evening.
Huge protest demonstration was taken out from Chattabal area of Srinagar in which young boys, men and women participated.
“The protestors particularly women chanting slogans in favour of Aazadi marched throughout the locality. Later, protest demonstration culminated off peacefully,” eye-witnesses said.
Another protest march was taken out from Shahr-e-Khaas area of Srinagar.
According to witnesses, protestors mostly young boys tried to march towards city centre Lal Chowk, but as soon as procession reached Nai Sadak at Babarshah, forces deployed there fired numerous rounds of tear gas shells and prevented protestors from moving further.
There are also reports of forces excesses from Batamaloo area.
The locals said as people were preparing for “Asr”(evening prayers), “forces barged into the masjid Hazrat Sheikh Dawood Jamia Masjid near Ziyarat-e-Batamaloo and took away public address system,” said a Batamaloo local.
Later, people took out a procession and protested against the “forces excesses,” said the reports.
Reports reaching from uptown Nowgam said that youths clashed with forces and burnt down many tyres.
In South Kashmir’s Verinag, youths took out a protest rally from main chowk after Zuhr prayers today.
Youth started their bikes and cars at main chowk Verinag and drove via Nowgam Shahbad, Chowgund, Thamman, Kamar, Halchidar up to Kapran Shahgund. It is almost 20 KM distance. They returned around 5 PM via Batgund and the “freedom” rally concluded at Verinag. It was, however, a peaceful rally.
Meanwhile, reports said that a motorbike rally was taken out in Shopian on Thursday. Police had to use tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters who pelted stones on them.
Dozens of motorbikes with green flags appeared in the south town raising anti-India slogans and reached the main chowk (Gole Chakri), they said.
