Never received any order on issuing PRCs in schools: Dir Edu

As the controversy over the issuance of the permanent residence certificates (PRCs) at school level in Jammu region has kept the pot boiling in JK, authorities at School Education Friday said it never received any communication from the Revenue Department.

Talking to KNS, Director School Education Kashmir Showkat Beigh said, “My office has not received any intimation or communication from the concerned department over issuing PRCs at the school level.”

“No order, circular or even intimation has been received by our office from the government over issuing PRCs at the school level. There is no such development- it was never a proposal as much as I know,” Director said.

Pertinently, the issue came to light when BJP leader and Minister of State for Revenue Sunil Kumar Sharma during his visit to Katra said that the government has taken up a project to issue PRCs and Caste Certificates at the school level. The Minister had added that the government have started the project in Kishtwar district on a trial basis in 17 schools and have issued over 500 certificates so far.

Government, later on Friday categorically declared that it has no proposal to issue state subject document at school level and that normal procedure for the issuance of PRCs would be followed.

Talking to KNS, Revenue Minister Javaid Mustafa Mir stated the issuance of the PRCs will remain in vogue as per the Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) and the government has no proposal to change any procedure.
