Hajan shuts against arrests

North Kashmir’s Hajan town is witnessing a complete shutdown Saturday, for second consecutive day, against the arrest of local youth.


Local sources informed Kashmir Life that four youth were arrested Friday evening as clashes were going on between police and people.


“People were protesting on the call of separatists and police did not allow it. Soon the situation turned violent and severe stone pelting and shelling took place,” local sources said.


He added that four youth namely: Hilal Ahmad, Zahoor Ahmad, Mir Ashraf, and Mir Abid were arrested by police.


Sources said injuries were inflicted on the cops and protestors as well.


Since this morning people are protesting against the arrests. Shops and business establishments are closed and traffic is off the roads.


Pertinently, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani had called for a complete shutdown on Friday against the killing of seven unidentified militants by armed forces in Dardpora area of Kupwara.
