The residents of Srinagar’s Nawpora locality staged a protest in the area on Wednesday against the arrest of two persons in a “police raid” at Bhat residence on Tuesday night.

The protestors while blocking the traffic demanded an immediate release of Mohammad Maqbool Dar, 60, and Ferooz Ahmad Dar, 26.

“The police raided our residence last night and asked us to handover our son—whom they claimed to have links with stone pelting,” says a protestor. “Upon finding him missing, they arrested elder of the family along with other relative.”

The locals said that they won’t let the traffic resume until police releases the arrested persons.
