Weather Crisis: 21 Families Evacuated From Uri

As many as 21 families were shifted out of an avalanche prone area in Uri. The decesion was taken by Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Dr Farooq Ahmed Lone during his visit to Ladi Angan, Banali Boniyar, Bandi and Jal Sheeri for taking stock of the situation in these land slide hit areas.


During the evacuation, conducted in the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, 21 families were removed and shifted to safe places including Government quarters and school buildings.


The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to provide all sorts of assistance to the affected families. He also directed the local officers of police, revenue, health and other engineering wings to keep close watch on the situation in these areas.

Later,

the Deputy Commissioner also visited Palhalan in Pattan area where two houses were inundated during the recent snow fall. On his instruction dewatering of these two houses was immediately done and the houses were made operational.
