Hajin shuts over police ‘highhandedness’; separatists released

Following Farhat’s killing in Naid Khai area of Bandipora, main town Hajin is observing complete shut down against what the locals called “police highhandedness”.


Reports reaching here said that early Wednesday, locals staged peaceful protests against the action of forces in which the locals claimed property worth lakhs was damaged.


“People held peaceful dharna this morning but nobody from civil administration turned up to see the damages armed men inflicted a day before,” a local said.


Pertinently, many youth were injured by forces following severe clashes between them.


The locals had alleged forces of ransacking their houses and thrashing men, women and children.


Meanwhile, all the separatists leaders who were detained or house arrested after the killing of Farhat in Naidkhai were released on Tuesday late evening. These include Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, M Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah and Nayeem Khan.
