Except Hurriyat (G), Separatists react catiously on Modi’s statement

KL Report

SRINAGAR

Reacting to BJP prime ministerial candidate Narindera Modi’s remarks that his party will pursue Vajpayee’s policy vis-à-vis Kashmir, separatist camp on Wednesday stated that it will adopt wait and watch policy as far as Modi’s claims are concerned.

“We will adopt a wait and watch policy and will closely monitor what their measures will be for the Kashmir resolution,” Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Chairman Huriyat Conference (M) said. He added that it has been observed in the past that during elections tall claims are being made and at the end of the day these claims turn out to be a ‘hoax’.

However, Mirwaiz observed that at the time when the people of India are choosing their government at New Delhi-it must be understood that it is the Kashmir issue that needs to be resolved for a sustainable peace not only in India but in the entire sub-continent.

Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Mohammad Yasin Malik stated that he in the next two days will issue a detailed policy statement vis-à-vis the policies adopted by then Prime Minister Vajpayee vis-à-vis Kashmir and the statement of Modi at Jammu.

Huriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani claimed that Vajpayee had no policy over Kashmir and the same is being politicized in an absurd manner. The amalgam stated that it is surprised that some pro-freedom parties are praising the efforts of Vajpayee and NDA. It added that neither Modi nor anyone else has sincere policy over Kashmir resolution and even Kejriwal has anti-Kashmir policy.

Senior Huriyat Conference JK leader Shabir Shah maintained that Modi will never follow Vajpayee’s suits and that latter’s stature was far higher than the former.

Pertinently, Modi while addressing a rally at Hira Nagar in Jammu stated that the path of Vajpayee will be carried forward.
