Modi to pay obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi shrine tomorrow

KL Report

JAMMU

Before launching his party’s election campaign in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will pay obeisance at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine on Wednesday.

Special security teams comprising personnel from Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir police Monday carried out a security drill at the hilltop shrine in Reasi district of Jammu region.

Sources in the state security said that Modi would arrive in a special private plane at the Udhampur airfield of the Indian Air Force.

“From Udhampur, Modi is scheduled to take a helicopter to reach the base camp of the shrine around 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday.

“From the base camp in Katra, the BJP leader will trek up to the shrine,” a senior officer of the state security said in Jammu.

BJP sources said Modi would then travel by helicopter to Hira Nagar town in Kathua district from where he would formally launch the party’s election campaign.

Thereafter, Modi would take the chopper to reach the Udhampur airfield from where he would return to Delhi on Wednesday afternoon.

Pertinently, Congress leader and the party candidate for Udhampur seat, Ghulam Nabi Azad is leading the poll campaign in Jammu and Kashmir for the coalition candidates.

Ruling National Conference and Congress has repeatedly said that there is no Modi wave in jammu region but sources said that people are very enthusiastic about the second visit of Modi to Jammu region.
