Geelani dismayed over stone throwing incident in Shopian

Srinagar

Hurriyat (G) Conference, chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday expressed his dismay over stone-throwing incident in Shopian, wherein a school bus carrying children was targeted by some unscrupulous elements.

Our “strength lies in discipline, Geelani said and added we should keep strict vigil over those involved in these incidents, saying in resistance movements we need to demonstrate our mature thinking and follow discipline.

In his fervent appeal to youth, Geelani called for retrospection and said, on one hand, government forces while trampling all ethics, term Kathua minor’s  brutal murder and rape a “small matter” and on the other while pelting stones at innocent kids we are providing opportunities to these forces to get madder and come up swinging. We are passing through a crucial stage and it is sensible to move forward and follow discipline with complete wisdom, Geelani added.

The spokesman added that Geelani will offer Friday prayers at Masjid Iqra on May 04.

Meanwhile, reacting to the statement of Kavinder Gupta wherein he has said that gruesome gang-rape and murder of the eight-year-old Asifa of Kathua was a small incident that didn’t deserve much importance, General secretary, Gh Nabi Sumji said this exposed these bigoted minded persons, saying, that rape and murder in a temple is even more horrific and vindicates our claim that those supporting the accused, involved in these gruesome incidents, are mentally sick.

It is unfortunate that these sick minded people in their drive against Rohingya Muslims and nomadic tribes are evolving a sectarian conflict, Sumji said.

Politicizing brutal murder and rape of 8- year innocent girl is highly deplorable, said Sumji and added that in civilized societies these criminals instead of being in power corridors should be prosecuted for their misconduct and people should never accept these people or accord them honour, Sumji said.
