A joint delegation of Federation of Industries, Jammu (FOIJ) and Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir (FCIK), met Governor N N Vohra, at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu on Saturday.
The delegation discussed with the Governor various issues regarding the development of the industrial sector in the State. The matters raised included the need of taking various measures for promoting fresh investment in the State, including the extension of Central Excise Duty and Income Tax Holidays, presently available to the industrial units till 2017, an official spokesperson said this evening.
The delegation requested the Governor for early implementation of the government order related to ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and urged him not to make it part of the Industrial Policy if the latter is going to take some time to be notified; delegation of more powers to General Managers of District Industries Centres to avoid procedural delays in the clearance of cases; availability of dedicated New Industrial Estates; upgrading the power infrastructure to add 150 MVA per annum power availability for the industrial sector to provide hassle free power connections to the new industrial units; amnesty scheme for the industrial units whose power connections have been disconnected due to the closure of units; introducing “Ease of Doing Business” concept in PDD and Pollution Control Board for time bound clearances; management of industrial land transfer cases by J&K SIDCO etc.
The Governor listened to the demands raised by the delegation and directed the Chief Secretary, and all the concerned officers, to ensure time-bound action on the demands and suggestions made by the members of the joint delegation. He observed that every necessary action would be taken for promoting the growth and development of the industrial sector and create the much needed employment opportunities in the State.
