Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) J&K and JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Saturday condemned the attack on Kashmir Life photo chief and his colleagues while performing their professional duties in Nowhatta on Friday.

In a statement, JeI said, “we condemn the barbaric assault on the Chief photojournalist of the Kashmir Life Bilal Bahadur near Nowhatta Srinagar while performing his professional duty by some unruly outlaw type goons apparently belonging to some political organization.”

Jama’at termed it as an assault on the media itself and a vicious attempt to stop the media persons from performing their duties which is a heinous crime against the humanity. “It is the professional duty of the media persons to cover the events of the public importance impartially and bring the same to the notice of the world and those who cause any impediment in this duty is an enemy of the people. Such tactics are commonly used by the tyrannical governments in order to hide their tyrannical policies and highhandedness and also by those political or administrative stalwarts who are involved in any scandalous activity or financial disorder.”

“Jama’at-e-Islami while expressing deep sympathy with Bilal Bahadur and his colleagues, denounces all those goons who are involved in this assault and their mentors too,” the statement said.

JKLF chief statement said that its chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik strongly condemned the ransacking of sacred Jamia Masjid Srinagar and termed it as signs of “frustration of rulers whose through their forces have let loose a reign of terror” throughout Jammu Kashmir.

Terming ‘desecration’ of Jamia Masjid or any other Masjid as unacceptable, Yasin Malik said, “teargas shelling and beating people engaged in prayers and ransacking a Masjid, shows that mindset of so-called rulers who have beaten all the previous records of oppression in Jammu Kashmir.”

Condemning the assault on journalists at Jamia Masjid Srinagar by some goons, Malik said that no society based on morals and ethics can tolerate such attacks.

“While praying for the speedy recovery of photojournalist Bilal Bahadur who was injured in the attack,” the statement said Malik expressed solidarity with all the journalists who are working on ground.
