Much before the sighting of moon, the preparations for Muharram begin in Kashmir with black banners and flags coming up at number of places. ‘Black’ being the ‘sign of lamentation’ is seen all over the streets, wrapping around the religious centres. Huge banners with different posts exhibiting the message about the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (a.s) are flagged in the holy month of Muharram. Mirza Ufaq Zehra captures the mood on the streets
