Majaz Ahmad Lone would have never thought that he would have to add more days to the wait for meeting his beloved, as luck in the form of bad weather which forced road closure prevented the groom to reach the reception venue where from he was to escort bridegroom back to his home.
Lone, 22, left with his seventeen friends and relatives from his home in Mandiyan, Keran in cabs adorned with flowers to travel 140 Kilometre road, snaking through hills, and bring her would-be bride home.
While garlanded Lone, made up in groom dress, was travelling to reach her bride, Tahira Jan, the family and relatives of bride were waiting for would-be groom at their home in Tarbunia in Karnah, the frontier region of Kupwara district.
On October 24, Lone’s cavalcade travelled hilly tracts of Keran and it passed through Kralpora to reach Karnah. But as they were moving, snowfall began and the happy travellers got struck at Ringyari, 50 Kilometre from Karnah.
Soon the road was closed due to 3-feet snow and today for the sixth day they are trapped on the road, without having any food, when they would have been talking of traditional Wazwan.
After the sixth day today, the district administration allowed the traffic to move from Karnah to Keran. Thus, making Lone to wait for one more day!
