Post Tremor, Mirwaiz Visits Jamia Masjid, Khankah-e-Moula

Soon after his release from a week’s house arrest at his Nigeen residence, Chairperson Hurriyat (m) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday visited Jamia Masjid Srinagar and Khankah-e-Moula – the shrine of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA) at Khankah – and had the first hand knowledge about the damage caused to these very important religious structures in the Monday’s devastating earthquake.

Taking stock of the situation arising due to the devastating quake, Mirwaiz, who is also the chairperson of the Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar, said earthquake and other natural calamities were “strong warnings” from the Almighty Allah to the people.

He said, “the need of the hour was to take stock of our lives and our deeds and pray to the Almighty Allah for forgiveness.”

Accompanied by the office bearers of the Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar, the chief cleric inspected Jamia Masjid Srinagar and later visited Khankah where he took note of the damage to one of the domes of the shrine in the earthquake.

He expressed satisfaction that both the historic religious buildings in Kashmir – Jamia Masjid Srinagar and Khankah-e-Moula shrine had not received any major damage in the Monday’s earthquake.

On the occasion, the Khankah-e-Moula Intizamia and its office bearers gave a briefing to the Mirwaiz about the damage to the shrine following which he urged the Jammu Kashmir Waqf Board authorities to carry repair works of the damaged dome at the earliest.

Meanwhile, paying glowing tributes to two slain youth, Afaq Ahmad Bhat of Kremabad Pulwama and Abdul Manan of Shopian, who died in a gunfight with forces at Daelgam Pulwama on Monday, the Hurriyat (m) chairperson termed “these sacrifices as the real treasures of the resistance movement”.

He said, “sacrifices in the form of laying their lives and losing their properties by Kashmiris for the Right to Self-Determination of Kashmir would not be allowed to go waste.”

On the direction of the Mirwaiz, a high-level delegation of the amalgam comprising of Muhammad Musadiq Adil, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Abdul Majeed Wani, Farooq Ahmad Mamoosi, Engineer Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, Parvez Ahmad Dar and Riyaz Ahmad Bhat visited south Kashmir’s Pulwama region and paid glowing tributes to the slain youth.
