On the directions of Chairperson Hurriyat Conference (g), Syed Ali Geelani, a Hurriyat delegation on Wednesday visited the affected families in Islamabad who got injuries and were arrested in recent protests in the district while as another Hurriyat (g) delegation visited the Baramulla where they expressed their condolence and sympathy with the bereaved family of the killed Sikh woman.
In a statement to KNS, Hurriyat Conference (g) general secretary Ghulam Nabi Sumji said, “the use of brutal and excessive force by the state police against the common people who were protesting the killing of an innocent youth Zahid Rasool Bhat by the RSS backed goons in Udhampur attack has proven that the state police has become the armed wing of the BJP coalition government and instead of being a state institution, this department is directly obeying the orders of the Indian home ministry.”
“On one hand our children are being killed in a planned manner and on the other hand we are even barred to mourn the death of our loved ones. The entire state has been converted into a major prison and people are barred to raise their genuine concerns,” he said.
Ghulam Nabi Sumji said, “hundreds of youth have been injured some of them disabled for life in tortures, unabated use of tear-gas shelling and pellet firing by the police during the spontaneous protests which broke out after the death of Zahid Rasool Bhat.”
He expressed his sorrow “that the state police have been given free hand to suppress the voices of the common people and instead of taking stock of the use of lethal weapons against the common people during the protests, the authorities is encouraging its use”.
Sumji appealed the human rights organizations to take strong notice of the use of deadly weapons like tear-gas and pellet firing upon the common people in Kashmir and raise their voices against this. He termed that use of such weapons against the common masses as “worst kind of human rights violations”.
Meanwhile Secretary Public Relations Altaf Ahmad Shah along with other Hurriyat members after visiting Baramullah said, “the mysterious killing of the Sikh woman is giving birth to many questions. It appears to be a link of a deep rooted conspiracy which is aimed to create misunderstandings between the Muslim and Sikh brothers.”
He, however, expressed his satisfaction that the Muslim and Sikh brethren have nullified this plan and the unity among these two communities has once again defeated the evil designs of the conspirators.
While demanding fair investigation into this killing and stern punishment to the culprits, Altaf said, “the Hurriyat Conference is closely monitoring this case and any attempt to hush-up this matter will trigger a sharp protest.”
Meanwhile, Altaf strongly condemned the damaging and breaking of window panes of a Masjid in Palhallan allegedly by “the SOG personnel and demanded stern punishment to the involved personnel”.
