Abu Qasim: The Wanted LeT Militant Killed in Kulgam Encounter

As per the reports, the wanted Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Abu Qasim has been killed in a Kulgam encounter in the wee hours on Thursday.

Reports said that Qasim was killed in operation by government forces in Khandipura district of Kulgam.

Earlier, some reports suggested that Qasim was trapped in a Bandipora encounter in North Kashmir, where he had supposedly given a slip to government forces.

The slain militant was a hi-profile militant, active in valley since 2012. He is said to be involved in the Hyderpora attack in 2013 that left eight army personnel dead, Silver Star hotel attack in 2012 and attack on BSF in Pampore 2013.

Qasim recently gunned down Kashmir police’s top cop Altaf A Dar in Bandipora. His name figured in the Udhampur attack early this year that left two BSF men dead. He was on NIA radar and carried a bounty of Rs 2 million on his head.
