No alternate to meaningful political outreach: PDP

Jammu

Reasserting basic agenda of the party, Peoples Democratic Party Wednesday said that the only way to bring Jammu and Kashmir out of the present uncertainty and chaos was the sincere and honest political reach out.

“Peoples Democratic Party has always represented aspirations of people and it will continue to uphold its agenda, envisaged by its founder and patron Mufti Muhammad Sayed,”the PDP leaders resolved in a meeting of senior leaders from Valley held in Jammu on Wednesday.

The meeting among others was attended by Member Parliament Fayaz Ahmed Mir, former MLCs Surinder Choudhary and Firdous Tak, Bari Andrabi, Salam Rishi, Gulzar Ahmed Dar, Ghulam Mohiuddin Sheikh, Dr Harbakash Singh, RK Pardesh, Farooq Ahmed Rather, Ghulam Qadir Parray, Sunil Bhat, Sunil Bhat, Altaf Mir, Bashir Ahmed Ahangar, Raja Waheed, Manzoor Wani, Iqbal Baig, Ab Hafiz Wani and Kiran Kachroo.

The speakers observed that Peoples Democratic Party was formed at a time when people had lost trust and faith on the democratic institutions across Jammu and Kashmir and lawlessness was order of the day. “This party came into being not only as a political alternative but as a vision for peace, dignity and reconciliation. The basic agenda of peace and dialogue remained relevant and meaningful in all circumstances and has assumed more significance in prevailing conditions”, they said adding, “There was no alternative to sincere and meaningful political outreach through dialogue and reconciliation”.

The leaders stated PDP President has battled against various forces very bravely and the impression she has left on the minds of people is that she is actuated by high sense of fairness and impartiality.  “People know how amid the tumultuous times Mehbooba Mufti built the party brick by brick and made it  a guiding force in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape and in spite of taking over in very trying circumstances, PDP President ran the government with integrity and  calibre”

“Mufti Muhammad Sayed chose to create a platform (PDP) for articulating the aspirations of the people of his state. People extended their faith and trust on this organisation because they saw a ray of hope in the party and measures taken by the party while in power strengthened that faith. The leadership contributed to peace campaign which changed the discourse and created an ambience for conflict resolution”.

Asserting that both agenda and leadership of the party were undisputed, the meeting observed that the party will have to play a more crucial role in prevailing circumstances. “People of Jammu and Kashmir are looking towards PDP with faith and hope”, “It was time for the leadership to stay united and firm in order to meet the expectations of people”.

Meanwhile, a condolence meeting at the PDP office was also held to express solidarity with senior PDP leader Arshid Hussain Malik over the sad demise of his brother. The leaders have expressed heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family and have prayed for their patience at a time of such irreparable loss.
