The Jammu and Kashmir police have slapped “war against state” on JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik and several others.

Sources said that Malik and eight other people including Noor Kalwal, Showkat Bakhshi, Sheikh Rashid, Bashir Kashmiri, Gh Muhammad Dar, Ishfaq, Nazir Rather, Muneeb Javaid who are in police custody at Kothibagh police station were presented before a judge early Sunday.

They have been sent into police remand for ten days and are being shifted to central Jail later. “They are going under mandatory medical check-up this time,” sources said.

JKLF had organized a protest demonstration on Friday against the actions of Village Defence Committee members in Chenab valley. Three persons were killed by two VDC members in separate incidents and Malik was leading a protest demonstration which started from Maisuma in Lal Chowk.

Police arrested Malik and meanwhile protests turned violent and SDPO Kothibagh, Fahad Tak, was “grievously injured”. He was rushed to Army hospital where from he was airlifted to AIMMS.
