The city centre Lal Chowk including a restive Maisuma Monday downed their shutters in protest against the detention of JKLF Chief and his associates.
Mohammad Yasin Malik and other JKLF leaders were detained for protesting against “VDC terror”—and subsequently booked for “attempting to murder case besides waging war against the state”.
JKLF clearly distances itself from Monday’s strike call, saying “we didn’t issue any protest call for today”. However, the spokesperson said that the call was given by another separatist leader Hilal War against Malik’s detention.
However War told Kashmir Life that the decision to observe shutdown was taken at community level and “jointly supported by my party and other members”.
While traders put their business in key and lock for the day, the thin vehicular movement was seen in the area.
