Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura Wednesday said that Jammu and Kashmir was witnessing “new era of development and prosperity” under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayed.
Addressing a meeting of party workers in Kishtwar today, Lone said that the entire party banks on the credibility, honesty and political foresightedness of Mufti Muhammad Sayed. “Though the opposition criticizes the present government on one pretext or the other they also know that it was only Mufti Muhammad Sayed who can bring the state out of chaos and mess created due to mis-governance and economic blunders,” he said adding, “the party’s vision to get the state out of uncertainty, anarchy by involving people having divergent political beliefs and ideologies has been acknowledged at all the quarters and the results of recent assembly elections were testimony of this fact”.
He said that the state was witnessing new era of development and prosperity due to the sincere and honest approach being adopted in all sectors.
He said unlike the previous dispensation the present alliance believes that the opposition has its role to play in democratic setup. “When fingers were raised over the government decision to implement Food Security Act in the state, our Chief Minister went a step forward and sought suggestions from all the stake holders in order to have a people friendly law,” he said.
The minister said that in short span of eight months the present government has taken historic measures for the welfare of general masses. “Several measures have been initiated to provide transparent and accountable government to the people. Historic measures in education, health, R&B, agriculture, horticulture and rural development speak itself for the commitment of the present government,” he said.
He announced that Kishtwar will get Rajma Village on the pattern of Apple Village and Basmatic Village announced by the Chief Minister to be established in Kashmir and Jammu regions. “I have instructed my department to reach out to the general masses and create awareness about the central and state sponsored schemes in agriculture, sericulture and apiculture sectors,” he said.
Addressing the meeting Member Legislative Council Firdous Tak said that the recent breakthrough in Indo-Pak relations and peace initiatives taken by the union government was a welcome step having a positive impact on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. “The relations between the two neighbouring countries have direct impact on the state and its subjects. We believe that the restarting the dialogue process will go a long way in bringing prosperity in the sub-continent,” he said.
He said that Ladli Beti, Asra, Hunar and similar other schemes have brought revolution in social sector, the legislator said adding that the Food Security Act was another historic measure being taken by the government.
He asked the party workers to gear up for the upcoming elections of rural and urban local bodies in the state. “The state government was keen to empower the democratic institution and has announced to hold the elections after March. You should reach out to the masses and spread the message of our patron Mufti Muhammad Sayed and president Mehbooba Mufti,” he said.
