Ajas shuts to remember 1992 firing victims

Srinagar

A complete shutdown was being observed in Ajas village of Bandipora district on Friday to mark the 27th death anniversary of those killed in 1992 BSF firing.

Reports said that all shops and business establishments are closed while as very thin traffic is plying on roads.

Four people were killed and 13 others were injured on February 1, 1992, after the soldiers of BSF allegedly opened fire on them. The slain were identified as Muhammad Maqbool Rather, Abdul Rashid Ganie, Abdul Rahim Rather and Muhammad Sultan Lone.

An FIR stands registered about the incident but even after the expiry of 26 long years, justice still eludes to the families of the victims who claimed that not a single BSF man was censored or taken to task by the authorities.
