PAHALGAM

As the grabbing of state land across Kashmir is getting abetted, crime branch booked revenue officials, beneficiaries for grabbing at least 45 kanals of state land at Pahalgam. The revenue official was booked for illegally transferring state land. The complaint reveals that as per revenue records of the year 1978 (Bikrami) land measuring 45 Kanals and 19 Marlas under Survey No 169 situated at village Nunwan Pahalgam was Khalsa Sarkar/state land.

DELHI

Amid the tense situation prevailing in J&K and other parts of the country, Saudi crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman had a successful India visit. The joint statement that was issued later condemned terrorism while asserting that India will make efforts for improved relations with Pakistan. The minister of Foreign affairs Adel-al-Jubeir, who accompanied him had a series of interviews on TV. On Kashmir he said the two countries must talk in the wake of the UN resolutions. His visit came a day after his Pakistan visit that made it slightly controversial.

TURKEY
A young boy from Kashmir Jibran Qadri, pursuing a Veterinary Sciences degree at Ankara University, Turkey, made it to the famous TV Show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire last week. He was able to answer seven questions without using any lifelines, following which he started trending on social media. During the show, Qadri decided to use the audience poll for the 8th question of 30,000 liras (Rs 400200), but eventually lost the show. Chris Tarrant presented the award-winning quiz show in which contestants can double their cash prize with each correct answer and win up to 1 million pounds (Rs 1 crore plus).

SRINAGAR

In the wake of Lethpora attack in which a convoy was attacked by a car bomb, the Ministry of Home Affairs has finally approved the free air travel to all the personnel of all para-military forces deployed in the state on Srinagar and Jammu circuits and vice versa. The decision will benefit approximately 7,80,000 personnel of the CAPFs. This includes a journey on duty and journey on leave. This facility is in addition to the existing air courier services for CAPFs that have been steadily extended in all sectors by the MHA to help the paramilitary men cut down on travel time during their journey to and from home on leave.

RAMBAN
In Panthal Ramban, a local community jointly set up a community kitchen for the Kashmir bound passengers stranded on Srinagar-Jammu highway. On Thursday, hundreds of passengers were given a shelter and food by the locals at Maroog Panthal. The villagers also accommodated the passengers in their personal residential houses. According to the village head, the residents provided food and shelter to passengers since the strategic highway closed for the traffic movement. There are reportedly more than 1700 vehicles stranded on the highway due to landslides at many places. Some passengers who were caught away from the belt spent the night in an under-construction tunnel.
