Jammu and Kashmir Police said that three persons were arrested on Wednesday following action against those involved in drug peddling in Anantnag.
A police spokesman in a statement said that three persons were arrested for the drug offences during Naka checking at Tulkhan Bijbehara.
“This is a part of proactive action initiated by Anantnag police against the drug peddlers,” said the spokesman.
“Officers have seized 72 bottles of codeine from drug peddlers namely Showkat Ahmad son of Mohammad Yousuf resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara, Showkat Ahmad son of Wali Mohd resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara and Mohammad Yousuf son of Soimoh Tral,” he said.
“A case FIR No. 15/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bijbehara,” he added.
The spokesman in a statement said that community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood.
“Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep your society free from the scourge of drug menace,” said the police spokesman.
