Jammu and Kashmir police recovered a male body with multiple injuries on his head on the bank of River Jhelum.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Akbar Dar son of Ghulam Qadir Dar resident of Warpora Khayipora Tangmarg at present Khoji Bagh Kursoo Rajbagh, JKP spokesperson said Sunday evening.
After completion of medico legal formalities police handed over the body of deceased to his relatives for last rites. A case FIR number 36/2016 under section 302 has been registered and investigation has been taken up.
Meanwhile, the body of Rattan Singh son of Chunni Singh resident of Sundar Nagar Pathankote Punjab was recovered from River Drass near Kharboo, Kargil.
The body of deceased was handed over to his relatives and case has been registered to ascertain his cause of death.
Meanwhile, the JKP spokesperson said that eighteen persons were injured in different road accidents across the valley.
In Sopore, a Truck bearing registration number JK09-2834 hit and injured a pedestrian identified as Jan Mohammad Gogri resident of Norikot Kalaroch Kupwara at Nowpora. The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment.
In Kupwara, a Magic vehicle bearing registration number JK09A-3832 hit and injured a pedestrian identified as Tariq Ahmad Wani resident of Harri at Harri. The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment.
In Ganderbal, a Truck bearing registration number JK05B-8342 hit and injured a pedestrian identified as Qasima Jan resident of Thoop Reasi at Sonamarg. The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment.
In Islamabad, an Alto-800 car hit and injured a pedestrian Sakeena Akhter daughter of Abdullah Ladi at Langnie, Pahalgam. The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment.
In Handwara, a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK05/2817 hit and injured a boy namely Junaid Ahmed Khan resident of Rajpora at Zachaldar Bazaar. The injured was shifted to the hospital for treatment.
In Budgam, a Tata LP bearing registration number JK01K/3730 turned turtle at L-Mode near View Point Tangnar, Khansahib resulting in injuries to 13 passengers. All the injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment.
The JKP spokesperson added that Police arrested a man with prescription drugs in Yaripora area of Kulgam District.
“Following a tip off, Kulgam Police during Naka checking arrested a drug peddler identified as Ashiq Hussain Magroo resident of Nowbal Frisal. On his checking police recovered prescription drugs,” the spokesperson said.
A case has been registered against him and further investigation has been taken up.
