Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu invoked CAG report to announce a reform in the police system.

Between the period 2009-10 and 2013-14, Drabu said no funds were allotted for fuel to district police stations for running their police vehicles. Even now, he said, one third of the fuel quota was being consumed in to and fro journeys by vehicles from police stations to petrol pumps located at district headquarters which is adding to the problems in policing.

To improve the system and uplift the image of police, Dr Drabu proposed to give Rs 1 Lakh each to 193 police stations of the state as ‘Cost of Investigation’.
