Opposition Lawmakers Monday took PDP-BJP government head on as the ruling dispensation failed to present report on Handwara killings.

Leading from the front, Independent legislator, Er Rasheed addressing Speaker Kavinder Gupta said, “on day two, you assured the house that the report will be present within two days. Its fifth day today, but the report is missing.”

Five civilians were killed after protests erupted against an alleged molestation bid by an army man in main Handwara chowk.

Lashing out the PDP-BJP government, Rasheed said, “Speaker sahab, it is your credibility issue as your government has failed to implement your direction.”

On day one of the current 2016-17 J&K Budget Session, the Opposition lawmakers had sought investigation  report in Handwara killings to which Speaker had directed the state government to present the same within two days in lower house.”

“My simple question is: who fired the bullets? Is it army or the police,” Rasheed asked the speaker.

National Conference Lawmakers, A M Sagar, Devender Singh Rana and Congress’ G M Saroori joined Rasheed and asked speaker to clear the position. “The Government had told me that it will take them two days but now it is taking them more time,” Speaker told the opposition lawmakers. “No, no speaker sahab, you are lying. You had sought only two days.”

While all this was happening, Rasheed was seen asking Naeem Akhtar to respond who was gesturing towards the chair. Education Minister Naeem Akhtar is J&K Government spokesperson.
