Bad weather is taking a toll in Uri. Last night’s heavy rains and hailstorms have damaged the crops of walnut, pear, apple and cherry, a local said. Besides, the heavy rains have also partially damaged an edifice of J&K bank in the area.
Pertaintly, communications in and around Uri town are also snapped.
“Almost 30 villages are completely touch off and no network is available in the area,” Abdul Rehman, a local resident said.
He added, “we have to move at least 20 kms [to Chandanwari] where we can talk to the family members who have moved out of Uri for work.”
The locals allege that the telecommunication companies are not paying any heed to their [local’s] repeated pleas for repairing the systems in place.
