The business resumed on day five in the on-going 2016-17 Budget Session of J&K Legislature on Monday.
As soon as the proceedings resumed at 10:00 AM, the Opposition members stood up from their seats and asked government to enquire about the death of a youth in Kishtwar.
A youth, Abdul Wahid, went missing from his home some days and has been declared dead. The family has alleged that army was involved in the case. As the Opposition members led by Congress’ G M Saroori moved towards Well in the house, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, A R Veeri, stood up and asked the aggrieved members to raise their issues from their respective seats.
The members listened and followed the direction and sent their written complaints to Veeri along with a newspaper clipping. While all this was happening, MoS Asiya Naqash was stopped by CM Ms Mehbooba Mufti who was responding to a question by a lawmaker.
The house is discussing the procedures as how an area is declared a backward category area.
To a question from former Speaker M A Lone, Minister Imran Reza Ansari responded, “because they (Opposition) has done nothing in their term, we don’t want to waste time; we have huge work pending.”
