Army spokesman Wednesday informed that army rescued one lady and two children stuck in the vehicle that had fallen into a ditch filled with water on Tekipura road near Lolab and averted a major fire incident in Sogam.
“On 31st March night a frantic call for help was received by Army Camp Tekipura, Lolab from Munir Ahmed Lone resident of Anderbug, that his car has fell into a ditch filled with water,” the army spokesman said.
“Army Camp Tekipura quickly sprung into action and dispatched a team to the location. One lady and two children stuck in the vehicle were quickly rescued by the team.”
With heavy rainfall making the area slushy, the recovery of the vehicle became a herculean task, the spokesman said. “With the help of a JCB and Caspier vehicle, the car was recovered after two hours of constant effort by the team.”
In another incident in Sogam, Lolab, the spokesman said Army averted serious calamity due to its prompt action in response of a call for help regarding fire which broke out in Sogam Market at wee hours Wednesday. “The fire which was presumably initiated by an electric short circuit spread quickly to three shops of Faizal Shah, Hilal Ahmed Pir and Javed Ahmed Pir,” the spokesman said.
“The Rescue team dispatched by Army Camp Gujjarpatti quickly reached the site along with water bowser and firefighting equipments. The team assisted by civil fire tenders toiled for about an hour to douse the fire.”
