Thirty six persons hailing from Kashmir valley who were stranded in Nepal following the recent devastating earthquake were evacuated from Kathmandu to New Delhi and were flown back to Srinagar, police spokesman said in a statement.
He further said that three of them who had sustained injuries were shifted to PCR Hospital for treatment.
“In coordination with Resident Commissioner New Delhi, MEA and Indian Air-Force, thirty six stranded persons including children were evacuated from Kathmandu to New Delhi and thirty three of them were provided free Air tickets by state government and were flown back to Srinagar,” spokesman said.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of police Kashmir Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gillani paid a visit to the police hospital, Batamaloo and met the injured persons, IGP directed the doctors attending the injured to ensure their better treatment.
Pertinently, after a massive earthquake hit Nepal on Saturday, state police immediately established a Special Helpline at Police Control Room, Kashmir for the people of the state who were stranded in the affected area of Nepal. Police Control Room Kashmir remained in constant touch with the MEA control Room Delhi and Control Room Kathmandu.
