Still working with BJP to frame CMP: Mehbooba

KL Report

SRINAGAR

With the deadlock continuing over government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti Monday said that her party is working with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to frame a common minimum programme (CMP) ahead of the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Talks are still going on between the PDP and BJP. There are certain issues which need to be sorted out between the two parties. I hope within the couple of days these issues will be resolved,” PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti told reporters in New Delhi.

She, however, did not reveal the details of CMP. “At this juncture I cannot tell anything about the CMP but once it will be framed everybody will know it,” she added.

However, BJP sources disclosed, to KNS that both the parties have narrowed down their differences and have arrived at consensus on key issues that will form the basis of their governance for six years in the state.

One of the top BJP leader from New Delhi told KNS that both the parties have reached in to the consensus about the government formation and all the issues have been resolved by both the parties.

He said that both the sides have agreed on a full six-year term of PDP patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed as chief minister while BJP’s Dr Nirmal Singh will be his deputy. “Though there was rift between two parties about the two important portfolios Finance and Home, it was resolved and now the BJP will hold the Finance ministry,” he said and added BJP has cleared its stand on contentious issue Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) to the PDP that if the situation remained peaceful for one year in the state and the security agencies will give their positive consent then BJP has no issue to remove it from the state.

Asked if the announcement could be made in the next day or two, he said, it cannot be ruled out.
