Pampore police Friday recovered a large cache of Codeine Phosphate bottles from an Auto Load carrier that was being sold to youth indulged in its abuse.
Pampore police was informed by some locals some suspicious persons driving a load carrier were covertly selling Codeine Phosphate among the youth who are involved in its abuse in Pampore town. Immediately Pampore police headed by SHO Raja Tasleem laid a Naka on near Ziyarat Sharief Dusso Pampore. An unregistered Auto load carrier without registration number was intercepted and on its search, 968 bottles of codeine were recovered.
Two persons Mudasir Ahmad Rather resident of Munpora, Wuyan and Fayaz Ahmad Mir resident of Dussu, Pampore boarding the Auto load carrier were taken into custody.
A case FIR no. 27/2015 under section 8/21 NDPS Act was registered against the duo, and investigation was taken up.
It is pertinent to mention here that yesterday Srinagar police also recovered 590 bottles of Codeine Phosphate bottles from a car in Zakoora area.
A police party of police station Zakoora established a Naka near Petrol Pump Zakoora. During the naka checking police party intercepted an Alto car bearing registration number JK01J/4321. 590 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from the car. Police seized the car and arrested its driver identified as Riyaz Ahmad Malla son of Ali Muhammad resident of Kondabal, Manasbal.
Zakoora police has registered a case FIR number 03/2015 under section 22 NDPS Act in this regard and investigation has been taken up.
During questioning the driver revealed that the contraband was being transported to Ganderbal district for sale among the youth indulged in its abuse.
