SDA Removes Encroachments In Batamalo

In a major anti-encroachment drive, the Enforcement Wing of the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) Tuesday removed scores of temporary sheds raised illegally by some vendors opposite General Bus Stand (GBS) Batamaloo.


The vendors after illegally raising sheds over the SDA land, had got a status-quo order from the Court, which was got vacated by SDA on Monday.


After the vacation of status-quo order, a team of SDA Enforcement Wing, alongwith a police posse, arrived at the spot near Jhelum Market, Batamaloo this afternoon and started dismantling the illegal sheds and cleared the area of the encroachments.


Vice-Chairman SDA, Mohammad Salim Sheshghar said no illegal constructions would be allowed in SDA local area and the encroachments, if any, on SDA land would be removed in a time-bound manner. He also hailed the district administration Srinagar and police for its cooperation in the anti-encroachment drive.


“The demolitions were conducted to restore the original position of these areas so that people resorting to illegal means are restrained for public good besides illegal encroachments stopped to maintain the legitimate possession of the land belonging to SDA and to protect the physical environment of Srinagar city,” Vice-Chairman said and added that under its renewed anti-encroachment drive SDA removed several encroachments in Housing Colony Bemina Tuesday morning.
