SRINAGAR
A fierce gunfight erupted between militants and government forces at Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district late this evening, official sources said.
They said that following the specific information about the presence of militants, the joint team of army’s 42 RR and SOG launched cordon at Moominabad in Ratsuna village.
“As the joint team of forces intensified the searches the militants opened heavy fire upon them, the forces retaliated the fire ensuing an encounter,” the sources said.
Two militants are believed to be trapped in the area, they said. (GNS)
