Public mood against polling in South

Bugam, Shuch, Chanser, Okay, Hadigam, Batepora, Homshalibugh, Yaripora villages in Kulgam district and the Pulwama, Tral, Shopian and Islamabad towns witnessed poll boycott while as moderate polling was going on in Chawalgam area of the Kulgam and Veer area of Islamabad districts respectively. However, brisk polling was going on in the Noorabad area of the Kulgam district.


Kashmir Life Correspondent visited four polling booths of Kulgam town and found that 150 votes were polled in one of the booths while as remaining three booths had no voters till 10 am.


In Islamabad, Pulwama and Shopian towns, people preferred to remain indoors.


The Mattan town of Islamabad district has 2000 votes and no vote was polled up to 9:30 am.


Arihal village in Pulwama district has 830 votes but not a single vote was polled till the reports last came in.


Amid tense situation and stone pelting incidents Pulwama witnessed complete election boycott.


However, about 100 votes were polled at Naira Pulwama village. However, a few people were outside the polling station waiting to cast their vote.


Kashmir Life Correspondent spoke to a number of voters in Kulgam and Islamabad districts who said that people will come to vote as the day proceeds.
